Supporting access to learning in Wabane
Children in Wabane, Lebialem Division, in Cameroon’s South West Region face barriers to safe learning, including disruption linked to conflict. Access to a supportive learning environment is central to children’s safety, wellbeing and opportunities for the future.
CADEF’s programme focus is to support opportunities for children to learn in a safe and inclusive environment, with attention to girls’ participation and wellbeing.
Community education priorities
CADEF’s education response focuses on two complementary priorities: supporting the functioning of community schools and creating child-friendly spaces. Together, these priorities aim to connect access to education with children’s protection and wellbeing.

Working with communities for safer learning
Community engagement and coordination are important when planning education support in settings where access is difficult. Children’s needs, safety and participation should inform the design of learning activities.
Partnerships can help turn these priorities into practical support for children and families. Working with communities helps CADEF plan learning opportunities around local needs and place children’s safety at the centre of education support.
