Conflict and displacement can disrupt children’s learning, separate them from caregivers and make support harder to reach. In the South West Region, CADEF’s community-based approach brings protection and education together, working with the people and structures closest to children.

Connecting children with appropriate support
CADEF’s approach connects child protection, psychosocial support and education. It pays particular attention to unaccompanied and separated children and other children facing protection risks. These connected needs call for cooperation between community structures and qualified services.
Where formal support is difficult to access, local recognition of concerns and clear referral links are especially important. CADEF’s community-based work aims to strengthen these connections so children and families can be linked with appropriate support.
Children, caregivers and community members help identify priorities and shape a protective environment. Their participation provides a foundation for locally rooted work, while authorised service providers retain responsibility for specialist support. Partnerships can help sustain community engagement, learning opportunities and referral connections. Explore documented community protection activities · View training photographs.
